Pfc. Patrick J. Miller of New Port Richey, Florida was a 2003 graduate of Mitchell High School in New Port Richey where he was on the varsity wrestling team and played football and baseball. The honors student graduated with a straight-A average. P.J. went on to earn an AA degree in biology from the University of South Florida. He aspired to attend graduate school to study genetics. P.J. entered ther Army in March 2007 and began serving with the 1st Infantry Division two months later. This was his first deployment in support of the global war on terrorism and was expecting to come home in a few weeks. He had already shipped his personal belongings home from Iraq. He died in Baghdad from wounds suffered when he encountered an improvised explosive device and small arms fire at age 23.
