She attended Marion High School and worked at the Boston store in Marion for many years. During World War II she worked at the Burlington Ordinance Plant and for more than 25 years at Burlington Credit Bureau. She was a member of the New Art Club and First Presbyterian Church, Marion. She was a loyal Iowa Hawkeye fan.
