Helen C. Hatt Cooper, 86, of Burlington, formerly of Marion, died Wednesday morning, September 1, 1993, in Morning Sun Care Center, Morning Sun, after a short illness. Services: 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Murdoch Funeral Home, Marion, by the Reverend Clark Vincent. Friends may call from 4 to 6 p.m. Friday and after 10 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial: Oak Shade Cemetery, Marion.
Survivors include two brothers, Harry Hatt of Burlington and John Hatt of Cedar Rapids; and two sisters, Betty Walker of Cedar Rapids and Jean McArthur of San Bernardino, California.
Also surviving are nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Leroy; four brothers; a sister; and her stepmother, Elizabeth Hatt.
Born the daughter of Alexander and Henrietta Gandy Hatt on November 3, 1906, in Iowa City, she married Leroy Cooper on August 5, 1926, in Marion. He died January 17, 1973. She attended Marion High School and worked at the Boston store in Marion for many years. During World War II she worked at the Burlington Ordinance Plant and for more than 25 years at Burlington Credit Bureau. She was a member of the New Art Club and First Presbyterian Church, Marion. She was a loyal Iowa Hawkeye fan.
