Ambrose "Andy" Heurung, age 77, a resident of Upsala, MN, died March 3, 2000, at the St. Cloud Hospital in St. Cloud, MN.
Mass of Christian Burial was held March 7 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Upsala with Father Greg Mastey officiating. Burial was in the St. Mary's Parish Cemetery.
Ambrose was born May 19, 1922, to John and Cecelia (Pohlkamp) Heurung in Buckman, MN. He was a U.S. Marine during World War II, stationed on Guadalcanal. He was the recipient of the Purple Heart. He was united in marriage to Ramona R. Heisick on June 18, 1947. He farmed in the Upsala area and worked as a foreman at Falls Machine for 25 years. He was also a Morrison County Deputy Sheriff for many years. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church where he was a volunteer religious education teacher for some years. He was a member of the Upsala American Legion. Ambrose enjoyed playing cards and going to the Casino. He enjoyed his family, especially the grandkids. He never missed coffee at the cafe.
Ambrose is survived by his wife Ramona; sons James and wife Sue of New Brighton, MN, Thomas and wife Sharon of St. Cloud, MN, and Jeff of Bowlus, MN; daughters, Cindy and husband George Nikko of Clear Lake, MN, Debbie and husband Charles Sobiech of Swanville, MN, and Roxanne and fiancÚ Bob Roehl of Rice, MN; sisters, Helen Rogers of Minneapolis, MN, Cecelia "Tillie" Decker of Waverly, MN, and Rita Wunderlich of Royalton, MN; 18 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Mary Bartkowicz; one brother, John; and one sister, Estella Grabowski.
Casketbearers were Matt Heurung, Andy Heurung, Justin Heurung, Mike Sobiech, Joe Sobiech and Steve Sobiech.
