2nd Lieutenant Barnhart was killed when
U.S. Army Air Corps B-24D Liberator
#42-40184 collided with Clift Ridge,
near Elk, California, while on a flight
from Pocatello, Idaho to Hamilton Field,
near San Rafael.
Ten airmen perished.

With the 382nd Bomb Group, 538th Bomb Squadron.
