LIEUT. KARCH RITES ON WEST COAST TODAY

Funeral services for Second Lieutenant Robert Ellis Karch, 23 years old, a
former Joplin youth, who was killed in an airplane crash last Tuesday near
Muroc, Calif., were to be held today in West Los Angeles, Calif., with burial in
a veterans' cemetery there.

Lieutenant Karch was a son of Mr. and Mrs. L. S. Karch of Verona, Mo. He was
born in Joplin and attended school at Miller and later at Verona, where he
graduated with honors. he was a graduate of an officers' training school at
Merced, Calif., and had been stationed at March Field, Calif., in the air corps.

Besides his parents, he is survived by a sister, Mrs. Edith Baker of St. Louis
and several uncles and cousins living in Joplin. (Joplin News Herald, Joplin,
