George Henry Bahm
Birth: Jul. 20, 1900
Death: Apr. 16, 1999

United States Navy Rear Admiral. Born in Philadelphia, Pennslyvainia, he graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy in 1921, as an Ensign and served in the Pacific Fleet. During World War II, he was the Captain of the Destroyer USS Dixie AD-14 and served on sea duty in the Pacific Theatre (1942-44). After the surrender of Japan, he was commanding officer of the cruiser USS San Juan CL-54, the first ship to reach Japan on a mission to liberate American and Allied prisoners of war. During the early post war years, he served on the Combined Chiefs of Staff in Washington D.C. In 1950, he retired from the Navy a Rear Admiral and had a career in labor relations with a supermarket chain. He died at the age of 98 in West Yarmouth, Massachusetts. (bio by: John "J-Cat" Griffith)
