A beautiful light has gone out in the world. Jean Arlene Mosher passed away Sunday, December 16, 2012.
She was born in Oxnard on January 5, 1933, along with her identical twin sister, Joan Claire Mosher Talley, and was raised in Ventura, attending Washington Elementary School, Ventura Jr. and Senior High Schools, graduating in 1950. She went to Ventura College before entering the work force.
She began working at Port Hueneme Naval Base as a typist. She moved on to work at the Ventura County Hospital for several years and then went to work as a transcriptionist for Doctors Haggard and Maguire. Jean went into business for herself doing medical transcription for various people in the County for many years. Jean and her sister were Pirate Dancers for Ventura High School and Ventura College.
She will be remembered as a bubbly, funny, exuberant Lady. She had an infectious laugh and a devious mind at times. She had a heart of gold and touched many lives and made many people laugh. It was nearly impossible to know her and not grow to love her. Her great niece lovingly called her the Cookie Lady because Jean always had cookies available when she came to visit.
Jean loved to travel and meet new people and she had many friends all over the country. After raising her children, she retired and moved to Green Valley, Ariz., living there for about 17 years before moving back to Ventura to live with her daughter Nancy, in June 2012.
Jean is survived by her son, Douglas Sandford (Jessica) and her daughter, Nancy Ann Crawford. She also leaves behind her beloved twin sister Joan; seven grandchildren-whom she loved dearly; and eight nieces and nephews. She is pre-deceased by her older brother, Leland Mosher (2004); her father, Samuel Clarence Mosher (1968); and her mother, Mabel Stobs Mosher (1971).
Jean will be cremated with her ashes scattered at sea and a family memorial service will be held in the spring. Donations may be made to your favorite charity in Jean's name. Channel Islands, Cremation, A Heritage Life Tribute Center, Ventura, is assisting the family with the arrangements, 240-1359.
