PRINCEVILLE -- James N. "Hogan" Traphagan, 49, of 418 S. Cottage Grove died at 9:25 a.m. Tuesday, May 5, 1998, at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria.
He was born July 17, 1948, in Kewanee to James and Mildred I. Scott Traphagan.
Surviving are his father and stepmother, James and Tina Traphagan of Wyoming; his stepfather and mother, Russell and Mildred Wolland of Dunlap; two sons, Hogan and Kristopher, both of Chillicothe; one brother, Wayne of Dunlap; and one sister, Carol Norman of Princeville, with whom he made his home.
He owned and operated Hogan's Place in Dunlap for many years. Later a civil service employee, he worked in maintenance at Randolph Air Force Base in San Antonio until he became disabled in 1988. An Army veteran, he served two tours of duty in Vietnam and was awarded the Purple Heart.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Hammitt-Hott Funeral Home. The Rev. Gladys Herzog will officiate. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 tonight at the funeral home. Burial will be in Swan Lake Memory Gardens in Peoria, where military rites will be accorded by American Legion Post 91. Memorials may be made to Wyoming American Legion Post 91, Akron/Princeville Ambulance Fund or the Akron/Princeville Fire Department and Rescue Squad.
