Belgian Author. Best remembered for being the creator of fictional detective, 'Inspector Maigret.' Between 1931 and 1972 he brought the detective to life in over 75 novels, and dozens of films were made. Besides the 'Inspector Maigret' series, he wrote some 425 books, which have sold more then 600 million copies worldwide. His other books include, "The Strange Case Of Peter The Lett" (1931), "The Sailors Rendezvous" (1931), "The Crime At Lock 14" (1931), "The Man From Everywhere" (1931), "The Delivery" (1941), "The Brothers Rico" (1952), "The Blue Room" (1964), "The Innocents" (1972), "Letter To My Mother" (1974), and "Intimate Memoirs" (1981). (bio by: K)
