Rebecca "Becky" Ann Bell, 67, of Lewisville, Texas, passed away on August 30th, 2013 at Atrium Medical Center in Corinth, Texas. Becky was born on July 31st, 1946 in Jefferson City, Missouri to Pete and Jeanne (Cleeton) Markway. Becky grew up in Jefferson City, Missouri and graduated from Helias High School in 1964. After high school, she attended Texas Women's University in Denton, Texas. • Becky affected many lives on several different planes during her short lifetime. She was instrumental in starting a workshop for the mentally challenged where they could earn their own money and was successful in getting many of her clients out of the institution and living on their own. • She then went on to become the Youth Minster at St. Philip Catholic Church in Lewisville. She had a tremendous influence on all of the youth that had the privilege of going through the program while she was there. Many of the parents would walk up to her after she retired and relate what a positive influence she was on their children. • While at St Phillips she also taught CCD and was a Stephen Minister. She also held many retreats for the children of St. Philip. As well, she helped feed the Homeless in downtown Dallas and provided food and aid to the residents of St Charles Apartments in Lewisville. • After retiring from St. Philip she went on to serve three terms on the City of Lewisville Park Board. While on the Board she became a strong advocate for the Railroad Park Complex and was able to see its completion during her last term. • One of her most enjoyable accomplishments was forming the group, Women in Search of Spiritually with several of her friends from St Philip and friends from the neighborhood. Their accomplishments were not great but they all got a great deal of joy from their monthly meetings. The most important accomplishment of the group was the idea to start a Kitchen to feed the homeless and under privileged in the Lewisville area. With the help of the Salvation Army, Love Thy Neighbor of Lewisville was formed. This charity now feeds hundreds of people on a weekly basis. Becky married Billy R. Bell in 1967 in Jefferson City, Missouri. They were happily married for 46 years. Becky's main goal in life was to feed and take care of the ducks, geese, and any other animal on the lake. Her routine would be to take 50 pounds of corn down to the lake first thing in the morning for all the ducks, geese, seagulls and fish. She enjoyed bowling, softball, reading and fishing. Becky was preceded in death by Ulysses "Pete" and Jeanne (Cleeton) Markway. Becky is survived by her husband of Lewisville, TX; her son and his wife of Walnut Creek, CA; her brother and her sister; and her five nephews and their families.
