William C. Dawley Dies in West.

William C. Dawley passed away
at the home of his son Frank Dawley,
at Sequim, Wash., on Friday,
June 17th, following a years illness
from cancer. Mr. Dawley had
been living in the west since January last.
Deceased was born in Taberg,
Onedia county, N. Y., August 6,
1859, and was 61 years, 10 months
and 11 days of age at the time of
his death. After leaving New
York he spent one year in Kansas
and came to Minnesota in 1865,
locating at Rice for one year,
then to Royalton, coming to Detroit in
1895 where they have resided at 418 Front street
until last
fall, when, owing to ill health, the
home was sold and he journeyed
west to be near his three sons. He
spent several weeks with his son
Fred at Yakima before going to
Sequim. Mr. Dawley spent practically all
his life at the profession
of plumbing and heating. When
21 years of age he joined the
Masonic lodge at Ontario Center,
Wayne county, N. Y.
Left to mourn his death are the
widow, who at present resides at
Sequim and four sons, Frank, at
Sequim; Fred, at Portland; Glenn,
at Mabton, Wash. and J. Gordon,
at Detroit; two brothers, Matt, of
Two Rivers, Wis. and Chas of
Olympia, Wash.
Mr. Dawley was a kindly man,
a conscientious workman, enjoyed
the respect and confidence of his
acquaintances and his death will
be sincerely mourned.
The remains arrived here on
Sunday and the funeral was held
at 2 o'clock Monday afternoon
from the chapel of Englund &
Holstrom, with services in charge
of Rev. C. J. Greenwood, and
interment was made in Oak Grove
cemetery.
Mrs. Ida Dawley, a daughter-in
law of the deceased, accompanied
the remains here from the west.

Mr. Dawley was well known in
White Earth, he did much work
here in connection with heating
and plumbing in school and hospital buildings
and also did much repair work on the
village water system. During his several visits
here Mr. Dawley made many
friends who will read with sorrow
the account of his death.
