COURNEYA RITES SET
Norman J. Courneya, 84, vice-president of Blacktop Surfacing Co. of Detroit Lakes, died Monday, May 31, at St. Mary's Hospital here.
Funeral rites will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. from First Lutheran Church with Rev. Kermit Graves, officiating. Burial will be at Oak Grove Cemetery with West-Kjos Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Courneya was born at Detroit Lakes on May 16, 1907, and was a lifetime resident of the area.
He was a member of First Lutheran Church, the Elks and Eagles lodges, the Minnesota Quarter Horse Association, the Minnesota and North Dakota Associations of General Contractor and the Bituminous Association.
He married Pearl Evert in Moorhead on May 13, 1966.
Surviving are his wife; a son-Paul Courneya of Houston, Tex., two daughters-Mrs. James (Mary Jane) Bursch of Elk River and Mrs. Rollin (Sandra Lee) Sanford of Lubbock, Tex.; a step-daughter-Lori, at home; three brothers-Garnett, George and Mathias Courneya, all of Detroit Lakes; two sisters-Mrs. Edward (Ruby) Okerson of Alexandria and Mrs. Louis (Lucille) Boorom of Detroit Lakes and 10 grandchildren.
