L. D. was born in Kentucky but by age nine years he was living with parents and a sister, Lerue, in Pontiac, MI.
He was ordained as Free Will Baptist minister, and in his early ministry, his name appeared in National FWB Minutes in 1940's, as pastor in Detroit, MI at that time.
Later, Rev. Nance united with the Methodist church.
"He was pastor of several United Methodist churches, including in Birmingham, Jasper and Guntersville, Alabama. He then became the United Methodist's District Superintendent of North Alabama, a position he held until his retirement.
On a personal note, he was the most personable, caring man I have ever known." He died in Cullman, AL.
