Luther Robert Crumb was the son of John CRUMB and Rebecca Ellen (Richardson) CRUMB, born in a community called Donald, Franklin Co. AR.
Luther filed his WW I Draft Registration, in LeFlore Co. OK where he stated he had two children but was single. We know he had married and lost his wife at an early age. His children were Robert J. and Delma.
He married Lillie Mae Mathis and they resided in Haskell, OK for nearly two decades. He farmed and they added to their family: 1930, showed Robt J and Delma; then Emma G; Roy D; Mary T and Wanda. By 1940, their family had three children in HH: Roy 18, Ruby 9, and Manuel 6yrs.
He had begun preaching before this in the many rural churches found in eastern OK. Where he was ordained is unknown, but he was enumerated in old minutes of the Free Will Baptist Association of churches and was an active minister. Sometime after 1940, they removed to central California, where he again, preached and carried on with church work, while working to provide for his family.
During a time when he stopped to help a motorist, a fire ensued, burned his arm so badly, it was amputated from the elbow down. For sure, this was a great loss, but after some recovery, he went on working with one hand...he pastored and preached, attended meetings, etc until at last his health prevented it.
Those "without" the church were influenced by his dedication in the face of obstacles and physical hardship.
He left a good name and in death claimed all of heaven's promises he embraced and had proclaimed to others.
