Ira Ladd Pool was the son of Bannister and Mary Gregg Pool.He married Minerva A. Hiner on 12-30-1865. To them were born 3 daughters, Myrtie B, Edna M, and Nellie A. He enlisted at the age of 18 as a Corp. in Co. A 38th O. V. I and was soon promoted to Sergeant. He received a gunshot wound in his arm during the battle at Mission Ridge and was honorably discharged in 1863. He re-enlisted 11-21-1863 in his old command, and participated in the battles of Corinth, Stone River, Atlanta, Jonesboro, Mission Ridge, and with Sherman to the Sea. He was discharged 8-25-1865 and died at his home in Edgerton of disease contracted while in the army (1891).
