Leota Brackett, 87, died Friday, October 16, 2009 at her home is Muskogee. She was born July 4, 1922 in Stidham, Oklahoma to William and Etta (Anthony) Burdine. Leota retired from First National Bank. She was a good Christian woman who enjoyed her church family at Westside Church of Christ where she was a member. She was also a member of The Order of the Eastern Star. Leota was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother with a heart of gold. Leota was preceded in death by her parents, Will and Etta Burdine; her husband, Willard Brackett; brothers, Chester Burdine and Deward Burdine and two sisters, Veneta Haynes and Geneva Hood. She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Earney and Mary Larue Brackett of Muskogee; two grandsons, Scott Brackett and his wife, Brandy, of Muskogee and William Brackett of Tennessee; granddaughter, Michelle Brackett of Muskogee and three great-granddaughters, Samantha Brackett of Muskogee, Emma Brackett of Tennessee and Makayla Brackett of Muskogee.Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, October 21, 2009 at Westside Church of Christ with Mr. Everett Dunn officiating. Interment will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery at Checotah. Pallbearers will be Earney Brackett, Scott Brackett, Will Brackett, Ken Hutson, Charles Kelly and John O'Rear.Funeral service arrangements are under the direction of Foster-Petering Funeral Home.
