Kenneth Boyd, 66, of Wellington, Kansas, passed away, September 27, 2012 at the Sumner County Care Center in Wellington, KS.
Memorial Services will be held at 10:30 A.M., Monday, October 1, 2012 at the First United Methodist Church in Wellington, Kansas. Arrangements are with the Hawks-Shelley Funeral Home of Wellington.
Kenneth Earl Boyd was born the son of Exie Leon and Jane Elaine (Jones) Boyd on March 3, 1946 in Wewoka, OK. He attended the Wewoka High School. Kenneth was a railroad detective for 2 years. He then worked for the Sumner county Sheriff's Department from 1969 until 1992. Kenny worked for the United States Marshall Service in Wichita for 6 years, before being elected as the Sumner county Sheriff for one term before his retirement. Kenny loved music and was very talented. He played the guitar and sang for his band "Strawboss" for many years. They made an album in 1983.
Surviving to honor his memory are his sons, Jason Boyd of Wellington and Jeremy Boyd and his wife Tara Resa of Wichita, his best friend, Cindy Boyd of Caldwell, 2 step-daughters, Terri Maxey Long of Broken Arrow, OK and Kelly Maxey Kastner of Kingfisher, OK, 4 grandchildren, Gage, Mia, Ethan and Dylan Boyd, brothers, Darrell Boyd and his wife Charlotte of Moore, OK and Keith Boyd and his wife Mary of Midwest City, OK, and a sister, Nancy Williams of Wellington as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Phyllis Donaldson, 3 brothers, Jerry Boyd, Wallace Duane Boyd and William Hal "Bill" Boyd.
