Lee was first married to Virgie Miller, they had Margretta and Lee, then Lee was widowed. He then married Lillian D. St. Aubin on August 23, 1926. They had a daughter, then Bruce, and another daughter who was born a few months after he died. The oldest, a daughter, and the younger daughter are still living, as of 2013. He was hit and killed by a car, while walking in the rain on Woodward Avenue in Detroit. The driver fled the scene. He was a tall well built man, with a strong personality, who was also strong physically. He was an electrician, and foreman for Detroit Edison. Some family members said that he was an executive there. He was skilled in woodworking, hunting, and kept hunting dogs. He smoked cigars, and also read books by the author Rudyard Kipling.
