Short Illness Fatal to Wilson Bidne, Youngest of Family
Demise Occurred in Detroit; Funeral Held in Flandreau Wednesday

Wilson Bidne, 33, son of the late Knute Bidne and Mrs. Susan Bidne, and the youngest of their family of 5 sons and two daughters, died unexpectedly in Detroit, Michigan, Sunday [April 23, 1950] after a very short illness. Members of the family were advised Wednesday by Selmer Bidne that their brother was confined to the hospital, but at that time the physicians had believed that the young man's condition was not serious. Later in the week, however, information was forwarded here that the patient had taken a turn for the worse.

After a short service held in Detroit, the body was shipped to Flandreau, arriving in Sioux Falls on the Milwaukee Arrow Wednesday morning. Funeral services were held at the Orvedahl chapel at 2:30 Wednesday afternoon, conducted by Rev. Russell A. Peterson of the Lutheran church. Interment was made in the family plot in Union Cemetery.

Wilson was born December 5, 1916, in Flandreau. After graduating in 1928 from the city schools here he was employed locally for several years. He then went to Albert Lea, Minnesota, where he operated an electrical shop which he sold to go to Detroit, where he was employed in the refrigeration trade for the past few years.

Though his last illness was of short duration, the state of his health for several years had been such that he was accepted for a special line of military service in which he was interested. Three years ago, he suffered an attack of gas, as a result of which he was hospitalized for several months and which weakened his resistance.

He is survived by his mother, who was called home from a visit to Albert Lea to attend the last rites; by two sisters, Miss Gertrude of Sheldon, Iowa, and Miss Hazel of this city, and by four brothers, Silas, of Flandreau, Bernell, Medford, Minnesota; Selmer, Detroit, Michigan and Leonard, Lexington, Michigan.
