A special memorial service to celebrate the life of Mrs. Carol Smith Bourgeois was held by her grandchildren at the home of her son, Robert Melancon.

Mrs. Bourgeois, age 76 and resident of Marksville for 45 years, passed away on October 1, 20012. She was dietitian for the Avoyelles Parish Sheriff's Office for 16 years, serving all of the prisons in Avoyelles. She also worked at the Dairy Queen in Marksville for many years.
