Pauline Shirley Parks Cox, 90, of Amarillo died Thursday, Feb. 26, 2004.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in the Chapel at First Presbyterian Church with Dr. Jim Bankhead, senior pastor, and Dr. Murray Gossett, associate pastor, officiating. Private burial will be in Llano Cemetery by Blackburn-Shaw Funeral Directors Memorial Chapel, 5th Ave. and Pierce St.
The next to the youngest of 12 siblings, Mrs. Cox was born in Gonzalez to Lillie Augusta Schwab Steen Parks and Henry Parks. She moved to Amarillo in 1919. In 1931, she graduated from Amarillo High School and on June 4, 1932, she married Ray Allen Cox in Clovis, N.M.
After selling Panhandle Transfer in 1962, she worked at KIXZ Radio, Tascosa Country Club and Swift and Company. In 1971 the Amarillo Business Women's Association named her Woman of the Year. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years in 1992.
Survivors include two daughters, Paula Hudson and husband, Ed, of Amarillo and Linda Asbill of Tomball; four grandchildren, E. Christopher Hudson and wife, Rebecca Dyer, of Terre Haute, Ind., April Theiss and husband, Dwayne, of Spring, Tracy King and husband, Mike, of Gruver and Autumn Fleming and husband, Melvyn, of San Saba; and eight great-grandchildren, Taylor and Dustin Theiss, Kramer, Kennedy and Klaire King, Chayce and Geryn Young, and Westyn Fleming.
The family suggests memorials be to Children's Learning Centers, P.O. Box 15408, Amarillo, TX 79105-5408 or to First Presbyterian Church, 1100 S. Harrison St., Amarillo, TX 79101.
