He passed away at the age of 87. He was the son of the late Exether Thomas Blount Washington and Samuel Anderson Blount. He was a 1939 graduate of Cass Technical High School. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1942 to 1946, when he received an honorable discharge, as a Motor Machinist Mate 3rd Class. He had served stateside and in the Pacific. He married his first wife in 1948, they had one son together. He later married two more times. He started working for the Detroit Police Department in 1950, rose to the rank of Executive Deputy Chief, and retired from there in 1976. He then worked as Chief of Security for the Detroit Public Schools, and later as Chief of Security for the Detroit Housing Department. He enjoyed keeping up on current events, sports, handball, photography, traveling, and skiing. He was survived by his son, two grandsons, and one great granddaughter. He will be missed by many. The Funeral was held at St. Paul AME Church.
Cremated, Location of ashes is unknown.
