Death Claims Veteran Real Estate Dealer

L.H. Pearson, 73, A Native Linn County Citizen Dies Sunday Evening at Home Here

L.H. Pearson died Sunday evening at his home, 900 14th St., after an illness lasting over a period of months. For many years he had been in the real estate business in this city where he lived for the past 21 years.

Mr. Pearson was born on his father's homestead, north of Springville, April 27, 1856, being at the time of his death 73 years old. He was married to Miss Clara M. Petty at Springville and to this union three children were born, all of whom survive. They are C.E. Pearson of this city, who has been for some time associate in business here, with his father; Mrs. C.E. Tower of Cedar Rapids and Mrs. Irene McMickle of Marion. His wife died in 1906 and the next year he was married to Miss Nannie Allison, who survives. Mrs. T.A. Yocum of this city is a sister of Mr. Pearson. Practically all his lifetime Mr. Pearson was a member of the Methodist church, joining first at the Pleasant Valley church and later transferring to the Methodist church, which he served as an official board member. Just a short time ago Mr. Pearson gave his hymnal which he had used for many years as a Christmas gift, proving his interest in his church to the last. A kindly man, with ever a kindly word, he had a host of friends.

Funeral services will be held this afternoon at 2:00 at the Methodist church, conducted by the pastor, the Rev. Mr. Perdew, assisted by Dr. Earle A. Baker of Mt. Vernon. Interment will be made in the cemetery at Springville.
