Goldie was a lovely child. She attended the local one-room school that her sister Grace taught. She was diagnosed with a digestive disorder, and diabetes was the only such disease known at the time. But her symptoms, as handed down, were more like celiac disease than diabetes. This diagnosis is supported by the fact that celiac but not diabetes is found among several Gerardy descendants.

Goldie Gerardy, 3 months old, in the Gerardy family christening gown, October, 1903. The gown was made by her mother Lissie and was worn by all the Gerardy children at their baptisms, and by some of the grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Goldie, prior to her death in September, 1911. This is from a memorial photo postcard. The back of the card says "Gold (Goldie) Gerardy, 7-20-1903 -- 9-17-1911." For some reason the gravestone says 9-16-1911.
