My mother was born at home which happened to be just east of the intersection of Forest Hill Rd. and State Route 718 in Miami County , Ohio on April 2, 1923. She was the last child born in her family and she had four brothers and one sister. Life was tough for her family as the Depression was in full swing and they moved several times during her childhood. Most of her school years were spent at Newton Local School in Pleasant Hill, Ohio but she also attended Concord Township School part of those years. She happened to meet my dad's twin sisters at Concord but that was not how my folks met and began dating.
As I recall, my parents were originally introduced by mutual friends and their first 'date' was at the Miami County Fair. My mom was still in high school and my dad was around 22-23 years old at the time. I'm not sure now how much time elapsed between that first meeting and their marriage but that took place in Petersburg, VA on June 26, 1941, right after my mom graduated from high school at Newton Local. My dad was in the army by that point and that's why the nuptials took place outside of Ohio. Pop came home for good in 1945 and continued working at the Troy, Ohio post office, where he was working when he was drafted. My mom and dad had four daughters and then I came along and that was that.
Lots more could be written here and maybe I will do that some other time. I'll just close this by saying that I miss my mom a great deal and that nothing is quite the same without her here. I'm sure that's pretty much how most people reading this who have lost their mothers would feel.

Member of the First Brethren Church, Pleasant Hill, Ohio.

Thank you, Maja! Your sponsorship of my mom's memorial is greatly appreciated.
