Dorothy "Dot" Eleanor Hamby Cartlege was the daughter of Rev. Charles Pinkney Hamby, Sr. and Louie Ann Williams Hamby. She lived much of her life in Fairfield, Alabama. She was a caterer and was active at Fairfield United Methodist Church. She married G. T. (Green Thornton) Cartledge, a pharmacist. They married in July of 1939.
Her children are Carol Jean Cartledge Grissett, G.T. Cartledge, Jr., June Ann Cartledge Abston, and Cathy Elizabeth Cartledge Fleenor.
Dot died in Alabaster, Alabama surrounded by all four of her children. She is buried with her beloved husband by the graves of her mother, Louie Williams Hamby, and her sister, Betty Hamby West.
