Death: Sep. 30, 1864

Tennessee, USA

Thomas Bradley was the son of Thomas Bradley Sr. and Margaret Norton. In 1838 he was married to Jane Watson in Franklin County Tennessee where he was a leading merchant. He served with the 1st Tennessee Volunteers in the second Seminole War. After the war he moved to Wappanocca in Crittenden County Arkansas, establishing a large plantation as one of the first planters in the area.

He was elected to the Arkansas Secession Convention even though he was against Secession. His experience led him to be named Brigadier General of the 2nd Eastern Division. However, being anti-secession proved troublesome as his troops didn't like or trust him. He was thought to be feeble and he quarrelled with his officers. In July of 1861 he was relieved of his of his command. Disappointed by the whole affair Bradley stayed away from anymore dealings with the war. He left Arkansas, moving to Memphis where he died in 1864. According to the Elmwood Burial Records cause of death was Congestive Chill.
