Married Lula Gowers in 1907. First lived of 49 highway way back in the woods behind the old pratt place whom they rented it from. Then they moved to their house on Double A Highway going towards bluff view. It is a long white house and it still stands. Thomas was going to be buried in the Williams Russell but Lula was terrified of storms and was scared that she would wash away, The cemetery being located on a hill. Never owned a car in thier life they always drove a horse and wagon until they died. When my Grandma and Grandpa came to visit Thomas would always get a ride to The Childress Drugstore to by a Bag of Penny Nails so that He would have an excuse for Going into town to go to Seals Tavern, since there was no alchohol allowed in there house. (Lula didnt approve of it).
There is a story that there house on double A was haunted. My uncle bob says he remebers sleeping in the spare bedrrom at there house and hearing breathing in the crawl space underneath the house. It went on forever. Every so often a differnent family member was sent down to look. They heard the voices but never saw where they came from. Uncle bob never slept in that room again. I wonder if the people living in that house now have the same problems.
Thomas played the banjo and junior played the guitar and they would walk over to the old Phillipi School for Cakewalks and entertain.
He always had Bantam "Banie" roosters and uncle bob would always tease them. One time one of the roosters started to chase him around the house. Thomas was asleep in his chair on the screened in porch with my Grandmother Nancy. I fly flew in his mouth and woke him up about when the chasing started. After 3 or 4 laps around the house Thomas Finally unlocked the door so Bob could Escape. Funny story. This would have happened around 1940.
Thomas and Lula were always present for Birthday party's for Bob and Nancy in Poplar bluffand i have several newpaper articles about them visiting Mamie and the kids There.
