Max Walker, 74, loving husband father, grandpa, brother, uncle and friend. Died December 17, 2000. Of heat failure in Brigham, City Utah.

He was born in Brigham City on June 20, 1926, a son of Verner and Sylvia Bateman Walker.

He graduated from Box Elder High School in 1944 where he participated in school athletics, forging many friendships.

Immediately following graduation, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy, was assigned to the U.S.S. Effingham and actively served in the South Pacific conflicts during World War ll.

He earned a degree in Accounting from Weber State College, later continuing his education in Business Management at USU and BYU.

He married Betty Lucille Jones on July 22, 1949, in Brigham City. The marriage was solemnized in September 12, 1956, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.

He worked in the Petroleum Industry for Chevron Oil for 34 years, working in Station Management and as a Sales Representative in Pocatello Id, Brigham City, Salt Lake, Cedar City and Ogden Ut.

In 1963 he became the Wholesale Distributor for Chevron in Box Elder County, having responsibility for the Tremonton and Brigham City Bulk Plants.
He was also employed with the Dunn Oil Co.. and Jardine Petroleum.

After retirement, he volunteered as an income tax Advisor for VICA, and was actively engaged in Temple Work and Genealogy.
He was a life long member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and was a High Priest in the Brigham City Thirteenth Ward, having previously served at Stake and Ward Financial Clerk, Bishop's Counselor, Stake Young Men's Counselor, Sunday School President, and Home Teacher.

He enjoyed sports and was a skilled golfer, winning Club Championships in Tremonton and local tournaments. He especially loved his grandchildren and the special relationship that he had with each one.
