James C. "Pops" Pantalion Sr., 59, of Riesel, lost his brave battle with ALS (Lou Gehrig's Disease) and went to be with our Lord on Thursday, Dec. 26, 2002. Family visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 28, at the funeral home. Services will be at 3 p.m., Sunday, Dec. 29, at Bellmead Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Van Ballew officiating. Burial will be at Riesel Cemetery.

James, most affectionately known as "Pops, was a native son of Texas, born in Nacogdoches, Texas, on Nov. 14, 1943. Pops was co-founder with his wife of 23 years, Karen, of Dream Connection Tattoos and of The Dream Shop. He was a talented and gifted artist who loved to draw and paint. He tattooed in his studio until ALS took his ability to use his hands, but he stayed active in the business greeting and joking with his customers almost every weekend.

Among his numerous talents and his diverse occupations, he and his wife drove as team truckers, on the road for several years, before settling in the Waco and Riesel areas to start their tattoo studio. Prior to his trucking days, he was a professional roofer both in Texas and California.

Pops was an active member of Cornerstone Fellowship Church in Riesel. He loved Jesus and worked everyday to minister his teachings to all. Until his illness forced him to stop, he ministered to the youth through prison ministries in Marlin.

Among his hobbies were his numerous pets, one in particular, his Doberman, Chulla, who he named his business after, Chulla Enterprises, Inc. He also had a passion for his miniature donkeys and miniature horses. Traveling in his RV was also one of his great joys. He was a member of an RV Club in Waco, The Tejas Travelers, and was always ready for a game of 42.

Pops was preceded in death by sons, Jimmy Jr. and Casey; his mother; and a brother, Tommy.

Survivors include his wife, Karen Ann Pantalion, of Riesel; father, James Pantalion, of Nacogdoches; daughter, Antonette Marie "Kickker" Pantalion, of Elm Mott; stepdaughter, Judith Ann Holliday, of Katy; sons, David Charles Pantalion, of Robinson, and Kenneth Pantalion, of Hawaii; stepson, Larry Campbell, of California; sister, Janet Pitzy Kuns, of California; several other half brothers and sisters; mother of Kickker and David, Shirley Campbell, of Elm Mott; grandchildren, Casey James Pantalion, of Hawaii, Jesse James Pantalion, of California, Jacqui Yannelli, James Robert and Matthew James Teagle, all of Elm Mott, David Charles Pantalion Jr., of Rialto, Calif., Jennifer, Kenny and Tommy Pantalion, all of Hawaii, and Nickie "Smiley Girl" Pantalion, of Iowa.
