Cause: Burning debris, hurled upward by bomb explosions and secondary explosions, caused damage among many of the attacking aircraft. Mcgraw's aircraft was hit by debris and fires started in the bomb bay. It rapidly spread to the wings, and then an engine failed. The pilot attempted a crash-landing near Foresti, south of Ploesti.
