MANSFIELD- Ottis F. Pence, 78, died unexpectedly Wednesday afternoon, September 22, 1999, at MedCentral/Mansfield Hospital.

Mr. Pence was born February 18, 1922, in Carter City, Kentucky, living in Mansfield most of his life. He was retired from Gorman Rupp and a member of the VFW Post 3494, American Legion Post 16, Amvets Post 26, AARP, Past Commander of the VFW, a Kentucky Colonel and Cootie. He was a Veteran of World War WWII, serving with the US Army.

He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Barbara E. Hurst Pence, two sons, Ronald Lee Pence of Mansfield, and Richard A. Pence of Elyria, four brothers, Russell Pence of Maysville, Kentucky, Edward and Oatis Pence, both of Mansfield, and James Pence of Elyria, a sister, Josephine Stephens of Aurora, Colorado, four grandsons, Curtis, Shawn, Jeremiah and Travis, and three great grandchildren, Amber, Julia and Cam.

Ottis was preceded in death by his parents, John Cleveland and Sarah Frances Frazee Pence, a son, Kenneth W. Pence, and several brothers and sisters.

Memorial services will be held at the Diamond Street Home of the Wappner Funeral Directors Saturday at 11:00 a.m. conducted by Rev. Cloyd Kress. Military services will be held at Mansfield Memorial Park conducted by the Richland County Joint Veterans Burial Detail. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.
