|Death: ||Apr. 11, 2013|
Blanche Moulton Hawke passed away in Provo, April 11, 2013, three months short of her 100th birthday. Her family was hoping to celebrate that extraordinary birthday in July--that's not to be, however, we will be celebrating her life and legacy at her funeral.
She was born July 7, 1913 in Heber City, UT, to Hyrum and Mary Hicken Moulton. She lived in Heber City until her marriage in 1935, to Don W. Hawke, of Provo, in the Salt Lake Temple.
Her family was the center of her life. She loved and respected her ancestors, most of whom joined The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in England in the early years of the Church. She was grateful to them for the gift of the Gospel in her own life as long as she lived.
Her children knew how much she loved her parents, brothers and sisters and extended family. She always appreciated and reflected their kindness and love to her. She taught her own children with that kindness and respect to be good, caring family members.
She served in many callings in the Church during her life in the Provo Second and Eleventh wards. She and Don lived in their home in that area for 73 years. She loved singing in the choir and Singing Mothers. She felt it a privilege to serve as the Relief Society President and Primary President. Blanche & Don served a mission in the Dallas Texas Mission; that was one of the wonderful experiences of her life. She still enjoyed phone calls from one of the Branch Presidents there.
Her home was always a haven for her children and their friends. She was an outstanding cook. Her homemade bread, cakes, and pies, were family favorites, but her meals made from nothing, and especially the healthy vegetables she prepared from the garden dad always maintained were always appreciated.
Blanche is survived by two sisters, Leah (Clive - deceased) Calder, of Bountiful, UT and Donna (Earl) Dayton, and a brother, Dean (Glenna) Moulton, of Heber. Her parents, two brothers, Rufus, (Ivie) and Glen (Rachel) and one sister, Marvel (Del), preceded her in death. Her brother-in-law, Charlie (Edna) Hawke, also survives her, along with many nieces and nephews.
All of her eight, grateful children survive her--six daughters: Jeannine (Wynston) Sumpter, Mary Dawn (Ron) Nuzman, Elaine (Dale) Allred, and Louise (Chad) Lyman, all of Orem, Kathy (Nick) Dokos, Murray, and Joyce (Greg) Rankin, of Draper. She is also survived by two sons: Robert Don (Jan) Hawke, of Lehi, and Tom (Mary Ann) Hawke of Herriman, UT. She has 38 grandchildren, 68 great-grandchildren, and 23 great-great-grandchildren.
The family would like to thank Donna Holt for her kind assistance the last 2 years, and the professional women from Encompass Home Health & Hospice for their care over the last few months.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, April 17, 2013 at the Franklin 1st Ward Chapel, 600 West 300 South, Provo, Utah. Friends may call at the church from 10:30 a.m.-12:45 p.m. prior to services. Interment, Provo City Cemetery.
