MISSOULA – Frances Pauline Nicolet, 101, passed away on Tuesday, Nov. 20, 2012.
Frances was born on Sept. 6, 1911, at Dwyer, Wyo., to Roy and Georgia Ballard. When she was young, her family moved to the Big Timber area. They later moved to Missoula. Frances married Samuel C. Nicolet on Oct. 24, 1937.
Frances worked as district secretary of the Fish and Game Department in Missoula for 12 years. After retiring, Frances was part of a group who conducted monthly birthday parties and Sunday church services for the residents of the Riverside Health Care Center for 13 years, until she was 90 years of age and ill health prevented her involvement.
Frances and Sam lived 14 years on a small acreage east of Florence, raising a huge garden of vegetables and fruit, preserving much for themselves as well as giving to others. They returned to Missoula in 1987.
Since her teen years, Frances believed in God and trusted his faithfulness. She served in various roles in the former EUB Church and the Evangelical Church. She was grateful for the Christian heritage her mother's faith and example left her.
Survivors include her sons, Roy (Arlene) Nicolet and David Nicolet of Missoula; and her daughter, Elaine (John) Blinn of Pueblo, Colo. Her grandchildren who also survive her are Soren Blinn of Denver, and Shane Nicolet and Jennifer (Brandon) Sampson, and great-granddaughter Alissa, all of Missoula. She also is survived by a nephew, cousins and friends.
A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 24, at the St. Patrick Hospital Chapel with the Rev. John Blinn, a son-in-law, leading the service.
Memorial gifts in honor of Frances may be made to Partners In Home Care Hospice, 2687 Palmer St., Suite B, Missoula, MT 59808.
