From the March 10, 2010 edition of the Eagle Herald (Marinette, Wisconsin)

David E. Senske (Papa), 74, formerly of Stephenson, Mich., went home to be with his Lord on Saturday, March 6, 2010, at 3 p.m., surrounded by his family in Dodgeville, Wis. David Ernest Senske was born on October 20, 1935, to the late Ernest and Elsie Senske in Augusta, Wis.

David had a special relationship with his cousins in his early years and throughout his adult life. He was a 1953 graduate of August High School. After high school, David continued farming the family farm. On October 14, 1967, he married Iona Anderson at the Bethel Mission Covenant Church in Wallace; Mich. Iona preceded him in death on October 30, 2009. In 1970, they adopted their three children: Becky, Bethany and Brent. David and his family moved to Crandon, Wis. serving the Midwest Indian Mission as foster parents and were actively involved in mission work. David enjoyed the scriptures and as a family we looked forward to him reading to us the story of our Lord's Birth every Christmas. David enjoyed watching birds, reading, gardening and cooking. He was employed as a school bus driver for 20 years. They retired in Stephenson, Mich. David has been battling cancer for the last four years. One of David's greatest gifts was his ability to listen; especially if there was a child with something to share. He had the ability to show interest and made us all feel as if there was nothing more important then hearing what we had to say. It did not even matter if he understood everything we were talking about, he encouraged us and made us all feel special.

In addition they had the joy in their retirement years of enjoying time with the Rangel family who in a special way shared their children and lives with David and Iona. He enjoyed reading stories and spending time with all the children in his life. David and Iona just liked to share with others and their treasure was truly held in the peoples whose lives they were allowed by God to interact with.

David is survived by his son, Brent and Heather Senske of Oshkosh; twin daughters: Becky Senske, and Bethany and Scott Kisting, both of Dodgeville. David aka "Papa" has six grandchildren: Justin, Brightin, Joseph, Anneliese, Samuel and Sophia.

Family and friends may call on Thursday, March 18, 2010, at the Anderson Diehm Funeral Home in Stephenson, Mich. from 4 to 8 p.m. with a prayer service at 7 p.m. Visitation will continue Friday, March 19, 2010, at the Bethel Mission Covenant Church in Wallace, Mich. from 11 a.m. until time of funeral service at noon. Reverends Kevin Kuehn and Don Dewing officiating.

Burial will be in Mellen Township Cemetery.
