Notes: This aircraft with Command Pilot Captain Walter Beckett aboard was leading the 453rd Bomb Group & 2nd Combat Wing when at 0927 it collided head-on with an unidentified B-24 of another group. Both aircraft went down. Three chutes observed. Capt. Beckett, Lt. Koske were two survivors from 42-51144.

Lt. Thom appears in USAAF Personnel as KIA on this date. There is no know memorial or monument. Most like Lt. Thom was repatriated to as yet an unknown grave location.
