DOROTHY K. REINHARDT
Dorothy, also known to many as just Mommy, passed away on Wednesday, September 13, 2006, at the age of 78.
She was born in Hicksville, Long Island, New York on June 11, 1928, to Adolph and Florence Nenninger.
She attended St. Ignatius Loyola School and Hicksville High School. In 1948, she married her dear husband Marcel "Del" Reinhardt and continued to live in Hicksville until 1976 when they retired and moved to Tucson, Arizona. After the passing of her husband in 1978, she continued living in Tucson with her mother.
While living in Tucson, they both acquired a real taste for American Indian culture, jewelry and art, and helped out with different projects for the reservations there in Tucson.
In 1991, after the passing of her mother at the age of 91, Dorothy moved to Fresno, California to be closer to her daughter and son-in-law.
Dorothy, a proud breast cancer survivor of 15 years, was a loving and caring person, always there to lend a hand or just to listen.
She enjoyed many hobbies such as hand quilting and sewing, knitting, gardening, bowling, golfing, playing the organ, and doll collecting, and was an avid reader.
She also enjoyed going to exercise class every Monday through Friday at the San Joaquin Gardens.
She was also a great cook, and her fancy Sunday dinners will really be missed.
Dorothy was always a kind, generous, and thoughtful loving person, who will always be in our thoughts and prayers.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister, Margie Metcalfe; and Del Reinhardt, her husband of 30 years.
She is survived by her daughter Kathy; her son-in-law Dr. "Pad" Padmanabhan; her nieces, nephews, and her beloved cat and companion "Mr. Jingles".
Dorothy was laid to rest with her beloved husband "Del" on Friday, September 22, 2006, at a private graveside service held at Holy Hope Cemetery in Tucson, Arizona.
