Civil War Union Army Officer. He was commissioned as Military Storekeeper in the United States Regular Army Ordinance Department on March 27, 1861. After the war began, he was appointed as Military Storekeeper in the United States Regular Army Quartermaster Department on September 19, 1861. He was promoted to Captain in the Quartermasters Department on July 28, 1866.
His post-Civil War postings include assignments at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas, Fort Monroe, Virginia, Fort McHenry, Maryland and Fort Wadsworth, New York.
