|Birth: ||Nov. 2, 1958|
|Death: ||Dec. 1, 1974|
CSHS Class of 1976
CAUSE OF DEATH:
Gunshot wounds. Officially, April failed to come home from Carl Sandburg High School and was reported missing by her father, Edward Ashley. Six days later, a motorist found April deceased along the shoulder of 161st Street and 88th Avenue in Orland. She was found a block from the nearest home, fully-clothed yet was missing her coat and purse. She had been shot in the chest and abdomen. Police believe she was shot first and then thrown from a moving vehicle.
Unofficial theories are that:
(1) April was seeing a married man. When she threatened to expose their affair to his wife, he killed her.
(2) April was suppose to meet a older man and he killed her.
To date, the case is still allegedly open.
