Helen Louise Branson

Branson
Memorial services for Helen Louise Branson, 77, of Casper, Wyo. were held at 1 p.m. Monday, April 11, 2005, at Oregon Trail State Veterans Cemetery with Pastor Gary Hans of Sunrise Baptist Church officiating. Cremation has taken place.

Mrs. Branson died Wednesday, April 6, at Poplar Living Center.

Helen was born Jan. 6, 1928 in Albany, to William Edgar and Mary Jane (Simpson) DeVore. On March 1, 1948, she married Jack Charles Branson in Sweetwater. Helen liked to say she chased Jack all over Texas, until he caught her. In 1958, they moved to Casper where they raised their family. After Jack retired in 1985, they acted as caretakers at Bishop's Point at Pathfinder Lake outside Casper. In 1991, Helen returned to Texas and lived near her brother and sister. She remained in Texas until 2003 when returned to Casper. During her life Helen worked in retail sales and as a waitress. She volunteered at the North Casper and Evansville Senior Centers and acted as a companion to the elderly. Helen enjoyed playing cards and attending social events with her friends at Skyline Towers.

She is survived by her sons, Jack L. Branson of Casper, and Mark D. Branson of Gillette, Wyo.; her daughter, Patricia L. Hans of Casper; two sisters, Barbara and Elva of Texas; 10 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack; two sons, Billy and Gene; two grandchildren, Jeannie and Scott; two sisters, Wilma and Erma; and her brother, Billy.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Wyoming Foster Parent Association would be appreciated by the family.

Newcomer Family Funeral Home & Crematory is in charge of arrangements.
