OP was found running loose in East St. Louis, IL., most likely a run-a-way or worse a victim of a senseless human dumping. If he wasn't either and was born in East St. Louis, he was remarkably brilliant and trustworthy.
OP obtained his name from running around the "Outer Patrol" road at the State Prison.
I began feeding OP and eventually I was able to remove him to a shelter where he was cleaned up and presented to a family for adoption. OP was unable to stay with me because of limitations by city ordinances. OP fell upon bad adoptive parents and was ready to be euthanize when I received a call from the animal shelter. I was able to find him another home and everything looked great for him.
After OP was cleaned up and rid of the fleas, he was just a beautifull dog, he filled out to 100 pounds, strong and intelligent. OP was a very large, long dog. And not in a fat way, muscle.
OP's new owner decided he wanted a smaller dog sadly OP was euthanize (4yrs. 10mo. 9dys.) It was sometime later that I was informed of this action. I wish they had found me, unfortunately for OP, someone at the shelter informed OP's owner that I had passed away.
OP's remains are unknown but his friendship, loyalty and love will be with me forever! The look of OP in the back of the vehicle looking out the back window, was almost saying, "I'm finally going home" only I let him down and I can never forgive myself!
God may forgive me, I can't and I can't ask him to...
His memory and a picture will be buried with Tazzy, Spot, Buddy, KitKat,Snoopy and me.
I believe this writing sent to Buddy by GeorgiaCa is most appropriate for all of our friends;
"I have done mostly what men do, And pushed it out of my mind; But I can't forget, if I wanted to, Four-Feet trotting behind. Day after day, the whole day through Wherever my road inclined-- Four-Feet said, 'I am coming with you!' And trotted along behind. Now I must go by some other round-- Which I shall never find-- Some where that does not carry the sound Of Four-Feet trotting behind."~Rudyard Kipling
A human being will love you, disrespect you and leave you. A pet will respect you, love you and always be at your side.
Damn the one who hurts a pet!
