Tom was the promoter of Baer Field Raceways for twenty years, retiring after the 2012 season. His tenure was the longest of any promoter in the 50 year history of the track.

THOMAS FREDERICK ISCH, 73, of Fort Wayne, died on Tuesday, Oct. 29, 2013, after a long time illness. Tom was the son of the late Edward Isch and Ozema "Peggy" Isch of Portland. Tom purchased Plymouth's Capital Speedway in 1989 and in 1991 he took over as promoter of the Avilla Motor Speedway and began leasing Baer Field Speedway in 1993. With Baer Field running Friday nights, Avilla on Saturdays and Plymouth on Sundays, Tom simultaneously operated all three tracks and two sanctioning bodies. He sold the Plymouth Speedway in 1994 and operated Avilla until the track closed at the end of the 1995 season. Tom operated Baer Field Speedway nearly three times longer than any other person in the track's 50-year history. He made several upgrades to the track over the 20 years he was operator. He had been inducted into the Avilla Hall of Fame in 1995 and will be inducted to the Baer Field Speedway Hall of Fame on May 10, 2014, the opening night of the 2014 season. He is survived by his wife, Peggy Isch; four daughters, Angie (Clint) Medley of Tennessee, Cindy (John) Drysdale of Pennsylvania, Julie (Craig) Kosac of Vermont, and Cassy (Craig) Liechty of Kentucky; stepdaughters, Heidi (Cisco) Monsivais and Charity (Brian) Prather, both of Fort Wayne; sisters, Pati (Tom) Jackson, Jeannie (Dick) Norris and Pauline (Don) Haines; brother, Paul (Anita) Isch; 16 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by his brothers, Jim Isch and Richard Isch; and sister, Mary Maxine "Tootsie" Cook. Funeral service is 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 2, 2013, at Waynedale Baptist Church, 633 Lower Huntington Road, Fort Wayne, with visitation from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Burial to follow service in Prairie Grove Cemetary.
