The youngest of three sons born to Dr. George Henry DOANE and his first wife Martha BOLLESBY. William was born in Springfield, Ontario, Canada.

He immigrated to the United States abt 1868/1870 as a small boy.

1880 Census, Pittsford, Monroe County, New York, with his father and step mother; age 13

28 NOV 1889 he married Ida "May" SEELEY in Pittsford. May was the d/o Dr. James "Edwin" SEELEY and Ida E. BOLLES.

MAR 1917 His wife, May, died.

13 SEP 1917 he married Charlotte R. "Lottie" (ROBINSON) CHIDSEY in Rochester, Monroe County, New York

1920 Census Pittsford, Monroe County, New York age 49 with his wife, son John, and Lottie's mother.

1925 Census, Rochester Ward 14, Monroe County, New York; 56 years old; with his wife and her mother.

1928 residence 455 Post Ave., Rochester; physician

1930 Census Irondequoit, Monroe County, New York; 62 years old; physician; with his wife.

My grandmother told me, "...He was eye ear nose & throat specialist -- and apparently they were quite well off. All her dishes & things were of the very best quality & I know Sue & Dad really thought the world of him. Aunt Sue said that while he and Aunt Lottie were on a trip out in the mountains he had a heart attack & Lottie tho an inexperienced driver, had to drive car down the mountains and he died before she could reach help...."
