Benjamin Betzer was born Feb 20, 1809 in Pickaway County, Ohio, the son of Anthony (1778-1856) and Anna (1775-1870) Betzer. He married Rebecca Long on March 2, 1828 in Ross County, Ohio.
They had nine children; Elizabeth (Burrous) 1828-1881; Mary Jane (Likens) 1830-1912; Anthony L 1832-1906; Mariah (Hull) 1834-1856; Henry Harrison, 1836-1930; Sarah Ann (Moorhead) 1838-1903; George Washington 1841-1915; Peter James 1843-1850; William Valentine 1846-1909.
The family settled in Whitmore Twp, Macon Co., Illinois in 1841. Benjamin and his sons were all farmers. He sometimes used the alternate spellings Petzer and Bitzer for his last name. Benjamin died Aug 21, 1881.
