He was born in Pa March 5, 1847 and came with his parents to Illinois when he was 7. He married Mary E. Taylor. They had 6 children. He had been suffering from chronic nephritis and heart disease and was 64 years old when he died. He was a farmer. His wife died March 26, 1887.
Again it becomes our painful duty to record the death of another prominent and highly esteemed citizen. Martin Elifritz, who has been suffering for some time from chronic nephritis and heart disease, died at his home five miles south of Edgar, last Friday at 1:30 p.m. The deceased was 64 years of age, settled in Nuckolls County something over twenty years ago, became a successful and prosperous farmer and useful and influential citizen.

His funeral was held from his late home, Sunday, April 2,
2 p.m., Rev. Charles M. Fuller of Angus officiating. The remains were laid to rest in the Edgar Cemetery.
Martin Elifritz was born in the state of Pennsylvania, March 5, 1847. He came with his parents to Illinois when seven years of age.

He was married to Mary Elizabeth Taylor.

Six children were born to them, two dying in infancy, the rest, Walter, Mrs. Mode Mallory, Omen and Joy survive to mourn his loss.

They came to Nebraska about twenty five years ago and located on a farm in Nuckolls County.

After seven years of married life, Mrs. Elifritz passed away, March 26, 1887.

Mr. Elifritz was an ideal neighbor, living in peace and harmony with those around him: a man loved and respected by his associates. In a vain endeavor to regain his health he went to Rochester, Minn. to consult with the famous Mayo Bros., but they could him no encouragement so he came home to spend his last hours among those who loved him, dying shortly after his return.
