Florence Fulmer Waits
Mrs. Florence Fulmer Waits - who was shot by a negro brute several weeks since, was laid to rest in the Odd Fellow Cemetery. She lived just 52 days subsequent to her sad misfortune. Just last November we saw her standing at the altar waiting to be pronounced a bride, with her eyes glowing with happiness and her cheeks beaming with love. The name of Florence Fulmer is familiar in every home and her sad death will almost break every heart. She was a bride of twenty summers."

Allen and Florence were married on November 29, 1893. The incident described above occurred less than nine months later. Allen continued to live with Florence's parents, James and Alice Fulmer, until they passed away. It is not clear from the census reports that Allen was ever able to work after being wounded that night.
