Earl Barnhardt Steiding was born in Elk Garden and chose to be buried there along beside his Father John Ernst Steiding and Mother Elizabeth Jane (McLaughlin) Steiding and his baby sister Vera Ethel Steiding. Earl married Marion Dixon Peebles September 11, 1911. They lived in the family house that his Father had built on Rail Road Street in Midland, Allegany County, Maryland.
Their house was always full of fun and laughter and big family dinners. He showed us all how to make apple butter; he spent many hours in the Wood Shop that was in the back of the house. He was very handy with wood working projects and passed the trade down to his sons and namesake and Grandson "Sparky". He was also, busy with the "Steiding" Photographic Lab that he had behind the main house. In his house basement, he made dentures for most of the people that wore them along the "George's Creek". He retired from the Celanese Corporation & was proud of the watch that he received.
Earl and Marion had 4 sons:
John Batrie Steiding born 02 Feb 1912 died 27 May 1969;
Earl Price Steiding born 01 July 1913 died 27 Dec 1978;
Frederick Dean Steiding born 10 Feb 1916 died 26 Dec 1985;
Richard Marsh Steiding born 16 Nov 1920 died 25 Sept 1962.
Earl is buried at the R.D. Dean Memorial I.O.O.F. Cemetery, Elk Garden, Mineral County, West Virginia; this cemetery was named for his Uncle Richard Davis Dean.
