Charles L. Brookover

Charles Leslie Brookover, 74, of Vienna died Oct. 13, 2004, at his residence.

He was born Sept. 18, 1930, at Parkersburg, and was the son of the late Earl W. and Goldie I. Atkinson Brookover. He retired from E.I. DuPont and was an Air Force veteran serving with the 94th Flight Squadron during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the Parkersburg Post 15 of the American Legion where he served many years on the color guard. He was a member of the Wood County Cancer Society Board and volunteered to transport cancer patients for treatment. He was a member of the Vienna Masonic Lodge 172, Nemesis Temple of Parkersburg, member of Scottish and York Rites, Ohio Valley Shrine Club, White Shrine of Jerusalem, member of the Order of Amaranth, Nemesis Temple Roadrunner for children.

Survivors include his wife, Joan "Pat" Myers Brookover; three daughters, Cheryl Ann Robinson and her husband, Buddy, of Vienna, Diana Leslie Lockhart and her husband, Mark, of Rochester, N.Y., and Mary Jane Chichester and her husband, Stephen, of Elyria, Ohio; four grandchildren, Nathaniel, Aaron, Margaret and Peter Lockhart; four brothers, Earl E. Brookover of Belpre, James R. Brookover of Belpre, Larry M. Brookover of Vienna and Teddy J. Brookover of Vienna; three sisters, Mary Ann Valentine of Parkersburg, Sue Hornbeck of Wirt County and Edith James of Vienna.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Pauline Brannon.

Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Leavitt Funeral Home, Parkersburg, with the Rev. Terry Alverez officiating. Inurnment will be at the Mount Olivet Cemetery. Friends may call from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Military rites to be conducted by Parkersburg Post 15 of the American Legion.

Memorial donations may be made to the Shriners Hospital, 1900 Richmond Rd., Lexington, KY 40502.
