Herman D. Armstrong, 79, injured in a highway accident on U.S. 421 near Kirklin on Saturday morning, died Sunday, July 31, 1960, at 1:30 p.m. in the Clinton County Hospital.
The Michigantown man was a native of Clinton County and in 1955 he and Mrs. Armstrong celebrated their Golden Wedding Anniversary.
His wife is still in serious condition at the local hospital, suffering from injuries received in the Saturday accident.
Mr. Armstrong was associated for 16 years with the Sims Milling company, a post from which he retired in 1940. He had lived all of his life in Clinton and Tipton Counties.
He was born November 9, 1880, to J.P. and Mary Elizabeth Clark Armstrong. On April 26, 1905 he was married to the former Gail Gallaher. She survives.
One daughter, Mrs. William M. Sturgeon of Cannelton, is also a survivor.
A brother, Arnold, preceded him in death.
Funeral services will be held today, Tuesday, August 2, 1960, from the Goodwin Funeral Home with interment in the Whiteman Cemetery. The Rev. Paul Vise will officiate.
