She was educated in Bradford Academy. When the Civil War began in 1861 , she was one of the first women from MA to volunteer to nurse the wounded. She spent a year at Mansion House Hospital, Alexandria, VA where she was with my husband's gr-gr-grandfather, Gen George William Taylor (FAG# # 4913), when he died following Second Manassas. Later she served at Armory- Square Hospital, Washington, and in the field at Fredericksburg, White House Landing and City Point.

In June 1880 she married Dr. Jacob Barnard Brinton in Westford, MA. His first wife had died, leaving him with four children. After Dr. Brinton's death in 1894, she lived in Washington, D.C.
